The Rhythm of the Spirit
Prayer 365 // Instrument of Purpose (Day 5)
More from this week:
Today's Scripture:
I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. Ezekiel 36:27 NIV & John 16:13 NIV
Today's Devotional:
This week, we've journeyed through this series titled "Instrument of Purpose." We've embraced our identity as such and the truths that follow:
After the replacement of our hearts, God gives us His Spirit which is the initiator and maintainer of the rhythm of our new hearts. My encouragement for you, today, is to Receive the Rhythm of the Spirit.
With every day that comes and goes, I believe more and more that life is a lot like music. As I look around, observing creation in both nature and society, I see that in all of life there's a driving force – a carrier of rhythm. An unseen force that keeps things moving forward. In the sea, the rhythm of the waves is driven by wind which is produced by the pressure of the air. In a song, the rhythm and flow of the music is determined by the writer but driven by the passion of the producer. In the symphony, the rhythm is determined by the composer but driven by the conductor. Everything has a driver of rhythm, something that regulates the flow and keeps things moving.
In God's symphony, He's the Composer, His Son is the sheet music and the Spirit is the Conductor. The Father is the author of His will and the designer of purpose, yet He employs the Holy Spirit to be the conductor of His Symphony to drive the rhythm of His song. Just like the natural conductor of the symphony is responsible to carry out the vision of the composer, so is the Spirit of God responsible to carry out God's will in the earth. He does this by setting the tempo for all, guiding us through the movements of God's will, from one season to the next entering into the fullness of truth.
What I want you to see is that God made each of us a promise (and He's a keeper of His promises). He promised that along with our new hearts, He would also give us His Spirit. No longer do we need the law to act as a pacemaker for our lives because now we flow in the rhythm that's driven by the Spirit. You see, it's the Spirit of God that gives us the ability to obey God, the ability to carry out His will. There's no longer a need to strive to be right, when the Spirit gives us the power to be right.
Since birth, your flesh and spirit have been fighting against each other relentlessly. As long as you're in a physical body, this fight will not stop, it'll never let up. But I can tell you this much, the fight will never be the same again. From this point forward you have an advantage over sin, you have the Spirit of God. He's going to guide you beyond the lies of Satan, the lies of your past and the lies of your pain, to the truth that will set you free. Today, receive the rhythm of the Spirit and you will experience a freedom and a future that you never knew existed.
I'm praying for you and with you,
Pastor Enrique Brooks
- As an Instrument of Purpose, God Desires to Use You.
- He possesses the power to clean you with Just a Sprinkle of His water.
- God desires to Restore Your Purpose.
- He will replace that which is Broken Beyond Repair (the heart).
After the replacement of our hearts, God gives us His Spirit which is the initiator and maintainer of the rhythm of our new hearts. My encouragement for you, today, is to Receive the Rhythm of the Spirit.
