The Rhythm of Renewal

Fruit in the Fundamentals (Day 1) // Prayer 365

“For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives.” - Romans‬ ‭6:4‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!" - ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭5:17‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Our theme for this week of prayer and devotion is titled “Fruit in the Fundamentals.” Take a moment and say it aloud, “There’s fruit in the Fundamentals!” This theme stems from Sunday’s message. We’re going to focus on the rudimentary or fundamental exercises that are essential to the growth and success of every believer.

In today’s text we’ve highlighted two instances where Apostle Paul mentions this mystery we call regeneration or renewal. It’s the process of spiritual renewal that Jesus refers to as being born again during his late night conversation with  with Nicodemus in John 3. Here’s the truth, once you’ve accepted Jesus as your Lord and savior, you’ve been given a new life, a new song and a new rhythm. All things are new! And today I want invite you to walk in the Rhythm of Renewal.

This is your new life, yes your new song and it requires a new rhythm. It requires a new mindset and new disciplines. Old habits are not welcome unless approved by the Holy Spirit. Anything ineffective must be improved or removed. But there’s one major challenge here. You see, while your spirit man was born again, your flesh wasn’t. While you've been made new on the inside, your flesh remains the same on the outside and that makes you susceptible to the habits of the flesh called muscle memory. For this reason it's important to introduce new disciplines to our lives to build new habits.

Our goal is to embrace this new life in Christ so it's important to know that spiritual renewal can be maintained only through spiritual disciplines. This week we will explore four fundamentals, spiritual rudiments, that are essential to the growth of the believer. Because we don't want to continue to live the life we had before Christ. No, we want to live the new life that He promised us. We want to live out that new life, that new song and this requires a new rhythm. So I want you to stay with us all the week long. I know these things may seem basic, it's important to know that the thing that separates champions from those who are not is that they do the basic, or fundamental things, very well.

I know you want to live in the fullness of what God has for you, but I want you to understand that it starts with the fundamentals. The key to bearing fruit in your life is in the fundamentals. So I invite you to join us as we flow in the rhythm of renewal. God has given you new life and that life is going to bear fruit through the fundamentals.

Prayer Focus: That we would move in the rhythm of renewal so that we will bear fruit in the fundamentals.
