You Can Be You

Prayer 365 // The Gift of Authenticity (Day 3)

More from this week:

Today's Scripture:

“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.” - ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭139:13-16‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Today's Devotional:

The greatest gift you can give the world is being real. To be real means to be honest, authentic and genuine. So yes, the greatest gift you can give God, yourself, your family, your friends, your business, your community and all of the world is being the person that God designed you to be.

Over the last three days we’ve gone over the the benefits of being real. 1. You can be helped, 2. You can see God and today I want you to know the third benefit of being real is that you can be you. Say aloud, “I want to be real so I can be me."

We live in a world of where there’s an overwhelming amount of untapped and unrealized potential. The reason is so many people have become intrigued with modeling their lives after the lives of others that are seen on television, social media, movies and more. In addition to the desire to model after the so many others in the world, some of the most powerful models are found in our relationships, especially in our homes. Nevertheless many of us spend a great deal of time pursuing lives that were never planned for us or simply satisfied with observing the lives of others instead of living our own.

The problem with this reality is that as long as we live outside of our purpose, we are living a life of untapped potential, a life below our worth. Some is asking, “ What am I worth?” Or perhaps you’re saying "I don’t have much to offer at this point in my life.” I want you to know that you're worth more than you can imagine and there’s more inside of you than you can see.

A person who was able to see this truth clearly was David. In the 139th Psalm, he wrote "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.” Knitting is a very intricate process that requires the use of the hands and our full attention. You were not made in an assembly line by the angels, instead you were carefully created by God himself. Because of this truth I want you to know three things about yourself today:

  1. You are special. Yes, you. I know this to be true because God created you. There’s no detail of your being that was not carefully considered when you were made by Him. Every detail of your life was fearfully and wonderfully made because the Lord’s works are wonderful and you are His workmanship.
  1. You have purpose. David wrote “...all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.” This is true about you. Your life was ordained, meaning it was planned by God, and God does not make plans without purpose. Your purpose is unique and destiny is calling out to you to walk in that which was prepared for you.
  1. You can be you. With all that God has invested into your creation, it should not be wasted wearing or watching someone else’s life. You’ve been created for greatness by the Great One. God made you in a secret place and it’s time for you (the real you) to be revealed.

Prayer Focus: That you would embrace the value in being who you were designed to be.

I'm praying for you and with you,
