An Act of Faith
Prayer 365 // Kingdom Generosity (Day 2)
More from this week:
Today's Scripture:
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters." - John 3:16 & Romans 8:29 NIV
Today's Devotional:
This Week’s Theme: Kingdom Generosity. It’s a continuation from Sunday’s message titled The Rhythm of Generosity (the final part of the series called The Rhythms of Grace). What we understand is that God is generous and His resources are limitless. However, the flow of His generosity in our lives is dependent on flow of generosity from ours. We cannot experience the abundance of God’s generosity if we are not generous ourselves. When we choose to be ungenerous and tightfisted, we hinder the flow of God’s generosity in our lives.
Throughout this week we are covering the 5 Principles of Kingdom Generosity. Yesterday, we covered the first principle which is: Kingdom Generosity begins with the posture of heart (Posture consists of both the position and condition of the heart).
Kingdom Generosity is this: to be generous in giving even with your only. This is quite different than the generosity of the world, the world gives out of abundance, whereas God gives from His only. This is clearly not easy. In fact, it’s really challenging. From that place comes Principle #2: Kingdom Generosity is an act of faith.
What is faith? Faith is confidence (right now) in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see (Hebrews 11:1). Faith calls for confident action before manifestation. We see this modeled best by God himself who saw His creation sinking in debt of sin. In response to our need of salvation, He gave His only... His only Son so that we might be saved. Now that's the place we see the demonstration of God's love and power, but here's where we see His faith: In Romans 8:29 it says "For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters." God's desire is that we become His children and not just His creation. This was only made possible by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Therefore, God gave Jesus by Faith. This is true because as people with free will, there was no guarantee that we would accept His gift or invitation, but He did it by faith that His act of generosity, giving His only, would result in the birth of many sons and daughters.
There are many instances in the bible where we see this faith demonstrated, but God did it best. I encourage you to embrace what God did for you with His son and allow that same rhythm to flow through your life.
I'm praying for you and with you,
Pastor Enrique Brooks
