Introduction
When we receive, believe, and conceive the word of God in our hearts, we become pregnant with a promise. It’s a promise that God will confirm and fulfill. In other words, He will deliver on His promise! In the series titled “Promise Vision,” we’ve been lifting is the promise of Greater Glory, which is the manifested presence of God. This promise was fulfilled through conception and birth of His Son Jesus. However, while He was still in the womb, we see a glimpse of what comes when we carry the Promise in community: “And it happened, when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, that the babe leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit” (Luke 1:41). Mary was carrying the King of Glory—Jesus. Her cousin, Elizabeth was carrying John (the Baptist), the one who would prepare the way for the Glory. When Mary spoke, Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit—and so was John. This fulfills the word declared by God to Zacharias (Luke 1:15).
Scripture shows us that when we are filled with the Holy Spirit—God’s presence, we will receive power. What we discover in this moment is that both Elizabeth and John were Empowered by the Promise. Immediately, Elizabeth began to prophesy—declaring a confirming word from the Lord. John was given divine power to carry out his holy assignment, getting people ready for the coming Messiah. This week we will study how God’s Promise comes with Power. When we carry His Promise, He will fill us with power! So, let us pray and learn how to be Empowered by the Promise!
