Decision Day
Focus Scripture
So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. — Matthew 6:31-34 (NIV)
Introduction
Crisis is the point of significant change. Our world has been in a state of crisis for nearly a year and a half as we've navigated through the pandemic. For some, crisis has been compounding as other crisis in life have surfaced at the same time, such as aging parents, sickness unrelated to COVID-19, marital challenges and job loss.
I find it interesting that the word crisis comes from the Greek word “krisis” which means decision. I believe at the heart of every crisis we encounter is a decision that must be made. My question for you is after all you've been through, what is your decision? Will you believe? Will your faith become more than just a ritual and convert into a relationship? It's not enough to look the part or say the right words, this the point where our faith is being verified. It's time to decide.
In the middle of the pandemic of sin, Jesus made a decision. At the age of 30, he decided to begin his ministry. A ministry that would leave an eternal effect on the world. We are standing here today because Jesus made a decision. Now it's time for you to make yours. Everyday of this week is Decision Day, a day where we make the decision to live the life we believe.
