God's Prosperity Plan

Focus Scripture:

"Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will." (Romans 12:1-2 NIV)

Introduction:

God has a plan for you and it’s for your prosperity! This plan is perfect and it cannot fail. This plan is called the perfect will of God and if you receive, embrace and apply it to your life, you will live your best life! This week we’re going to review this perfect plan and pray it’s effectiveness into our lives. It’s God’s desire that you experience His best for your life so He created this plan just for you! We’re going to call it, “God’s Prosperity Plan!” You can experience true prosperity in your life, all you have to do is follow His plan, God’s Prosperity Plan!

Day 1: There's Nothing Better!

There is nothing better than God’s Prosperity Plan, nothing better than His perfect will. God’s plan is amazing in every way! For someone you may not feel so sure of this. Perhaps you’ve been distracted by the temporal pleasures of this world and they do all they can to make themselves seem of great value. The truth is the world, while very religious in nature, operates in hazardous ignorance. It works so hard to look attractive but in the end it proves ineffective, it proves to be unfruitful. The reason why is because by nature, the plans of man are plans for death. But the plans of God are plans for life. God’s plan is a life-giving plan that provides fruitfulness beyond measure.

I assure you today that there’s nothing better! Nothing better than God’s Prosperity Plan! Don’t be distracted, to be fooled, stick to God’s plan for your life. Receive it, Embrace it and apply it and I promise, you will experience a harvest beyond your ability to imagine! Apostle Paul said it this way: “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us” (Ephesians 3:20). You see, God has greater for you and that’s why Paul says “Now unto Him” – that’s a deferral that says we are going to align with the perfect will of God, God’s Prosperity Plan. You are going to experience something greater than you’ve ever imagined!

Day 2: It's All Good!

God is Good, all the time and all the time God is Good. If you’ve spent time in the environment of the church, you’re probably familiar with this famous call and response. The pastor would stand before the pulpit before the congregation and declare aloud that “God is good!” and the church would respond, “All the time!” Then he’d follow right back with “And all the time..” and the church declare right back to him, “God is good.” This is easily one of the most famous sayings of the modern church. Whether you go to church or not, you’ve probably heard it before. While it may seem to just be a famous colloquialism, this saying is in fact an undeniable truth. God is good. That’s a fact. Good is His nature. If you look throughout the creation story you’ll see that God’s so good that everything he created was good also. The reason why is because a product is a reflection of its maker and the creation is a reflection of its creator. You my friend were made in the image of God. The fact that He made you confirms purpose and that purpose is good. Therefore when it comes to God’s prosperity plan, what I want you to know is that it’s all good. Everything about God’s plan for your best life is 100% good. Equipped with this truth, we are going to silence the lies of your fear of failure or inadequacy because you were made for good and you were made for success. Victory is built into your destiny! Apostle Paul describe the goodness of God’s Prosperity plan in his letter to those at Rome, let’s read what he said:

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who[i] have been called according to his purpose.” - Romans 8:28 (NIV)

Here’s what you need to know: Because God is good, his plans for you are good, that means no matter what happens to you, it’s all good. Everything is working in your favor and that means even what was presented to you as failure, it’s still good! Because God is good, all the time and all the time, God is good!

Day 3: The Pleasure of the Plan

God’s prosperity plan is good, pleasing, perfect and eternal. Yesterday, we talked about the goodness of God’s plan where we declared that it’s all good! We know this to be true because all things work together for our good because we love Him and He made us with purpose (Romans 8:28). Today, I want to speak to the pleasure that’s found in God’s plan. For many we have developed mistaken perception of who God is and the energy that surrounds Him. We’ve developed this image of Him being a cold-hearted dictator that’s ready to strike down every human at the first sight of sin when this is absolutely not true as we know His response to sin was love shown through the sacrificial giving of His son as payment for our sins. But to speak further to the heart of the Father and the energy that saturates His presence, the word that best describes this is pleasure.

It’s pleasurable to be in the presence of God, there’s literally no better place to be! In the 16th Psalm, David describes how he has complete trust in the perfect will of God and in verse 11 he describes what we find in the presence of God. “You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.” Before we get to the presence of God, I want you to know that as you submit to the perfect will of God, He will make your path clear to you for life, He gives us clear vision, direction and strategy when we submit to his good, pleasing and perfect plan. But there in His presence, we find something wonderful, it’s called joy! There’s joy in the presence of God! And there’s joy in following His plan! When we follow the plan of God we experience joy like none other! It’s exhilarating to follow His plan and reap His reward! So don’t allow anyone or anything distract you from His plan! It doesn’t compare! There’s no comparison to the plan of God and the joy that comes from it.

Now that’s not it, there’s something else that’s always right there with Him. David said there’s pleasure at the right hand of God. One thing about it, God’s right hand has to go with Him, everywhere He goes. So that means where ever God is, there’s pleasure there as well. So understand that the will of God will bring pleasure to your life. For some reason we think that when we submit to the will of God that it’s going to bring sorrow, it’s going to bring frustration, that we’re going to lose out on something – we have the fear of missing out. It’s not about the fear of missing out but it’s about the glory of what’s coming in my life.

You see when we submit to the will of God, you experience pleasure like nothing else in this world. There’s no alcohol that compares to the pleasures of God! There’s not a weed that can be smoked or a blunt that can be lit that compares to the pleasure that’s found in God. There’s no sex that can be had – I know I’m getting deep today but there’s nothing that compares to the pleasures of God! There’s not a thing that can be injected into my veins, there’s not a pill that can be taken, there’s not a woman that can lay in my bed that can compare to the pleasure of God! That’s why we submit to, enjoy and embrace the perfect will of God because there’s a pleasure like none other!

Day 4: Set it and Forget it!

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. (Romans 12:1-2 NIV)

Kevin Harrington shared with CBS News in an interview that one of the most famous jingles or taglines of all time comes from Ron Popeil. He sold a rotisserie oven and here’s what he said about it: “Set it and forget it!” Chances are you’ve heard this and have probably used this statement whether or not you owned one of those rotisserie ovens. The reason why is because it’s such a powerful and catchy tag line! Who doesn’t want to just set something and forget it? Set it and forget it is an experience that everyone wants to have. The reason why people love to say it is because it’s a statement that creates peace in the heart of man.

Just take a second and think about it, if you’ve ever cooked in the kitchen you’re more careful today than you were in the beginning because you’ve probably had a traumatic experience that has left you with apprehensions that have made you a more careful cook. A traumatic experience in the kitchen would be when you severely burned those rolls or an egg exploded on your first attempt to boil it. I think we can agree that no one wants to experience those moments again. Therefore, in response to our traumatic experiences, we increase our vigilance to ensure the food cooks well and this can sometimes be stressful as life continues in the background of our meal prepping. The mom who has to keep her newly crawling toddler out over literally everything in his or her reach or the business owner who receives an emergency call and has to resolve an issue as dinner is simmering on the stove.

In view of our past traumas, in view of our present stress, we are inspired by the idea of “Set it and forget it.” The reason why it inspires us, is because this is statement of freedom and peace. In other words when they say “All you have to do is set it and forget it!” You’re telling me that there’s an opportunity for me to experience freedom and peace in my life and I want that. If I can set something and forget it that means it liberates me of my anxiety and gives me the peace I’ve been yearning for all my life. Ron Popeil likely sold millions of rotisserie ovens, but he didn’t actually sell ovens, he sold the idea of peace. Because countless people desire peace. They’re looking for it, googling for it, YouTubing for it, reading for it, even eating for it and what he sold them was exactly what they were looking for and he was wildly successful in his efforts of selling the idea of peace. The statement “Set it and forget it!” denotes perfection! Think about it, the only way that I can have enough faith to set something and forget it in spite of my past trauma is that I believe it will operate at a level of perfection that I’ve never experienced before.

The truth is Ron Popeil’s oven was not perfect, there was something about it that was flawed because it was made by man but the idea of perfection is what sold it anyway. The idea of perfection, or rather the perfect experience, is one that we cannot find in this earthly realm but it’s one that only resides in the perfection that’s found in the true and living God. Yes, in our Father, the King of kings, the Lord of lords, the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. Yes, perfection is only found in Christ. That peace that we’ve been looking for, that perfect experience that we’ve been looking for, I want you to know that you can find it in God’s Prosperity Plan. You see, “Set it and forget it!” even though it worked well for Ron Popeil but he was using it illegally. Because the only thing that we can truly set and forget is when we set our affections on things above (Col 3:2). When in view of God’s mercy, instead of functioning in view of our past trauma and present stress we submit ourselves as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto God, which is our reasonable worship (Romans 12:1), that’s when we realize we’re able to identify, discern, test and approve what God will is – His good, pleasing and perfect will.

If you want to set something and forget it, I encourage you to submit to the perfect will of God. All you have to do is set your affections on it. All you have to do is set your mind on it and when you receive it and submit to it fully in your life you can forget it! You’ll be free from worry, you’ll be free from the anxiety, you’ll be free from the trap of your trauma if you would submit to the perfect will of God. Because God’s will is perfect there’s no flaw, nothing in it of error. You don’t have to worry about it, you don’t have to think about it. When you set it, you can walk away and you can forget it, knowing and trusting in the perfection of our God that He’s going to work it out for your good.

Day 5: Eternally Prosperous

God is eternal. Before time existed, He was there. In fact, He is the creator of time so that means where He resides is outside of time and that place is called eternity. Because of this time has no ability to confine Him or anything associated with Him. He is without limits. He’s limitless. With this truth as our place of reference, when we consider the magnitude of the plans of God, as we’ve called it this week God’s prosperity plan, there is nothing in the realm of time that has the ability to place a constraint on His will. Literally, if God says it that settles it. Time cannot touch His words. Limits cannot touch His words. Jesus said it this way, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away” (Luke 21:33 NIV). This is the truth because His words are spoken from eternity and they will last eternally. So what does this mean for you? How does this apply to your life and your situation? I’m glad you asked. This means you can rest assured that everything God said is true and there’s nothing the devil or anyone else for that matter can do about it. The promises of God in Christ are yes, and amen. There’s no if’s, and’s or but’s about it! God’s word is true and it will complete what He set it out to do! Let me prove it to you:

“As the rain and the snow
come down from heaven,
and do not return to it
without watering the earth
and making it bud and flourish,
so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater,
so is my word that goes out from my mouth:
It will not return to me empty,
but will accomplish what I desire
and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.”
Isaiah 55:10-11 NIV

When God says something it’s a sure thing. You don’t have to question it, you don’t have to lose sleep over it, it’s a guarantee. You can sleep in peace, knowing that God will do exactly what He said He would do. Do not disrespect His awesomeness and auspiciousness by comparing Him to a mere mortal.

God is not human, that he should lie,
not a human being, that he should change his mind.
Does he speak and then not act?
Does he promise and not fulfill?
Numbers 23:19 NIV

The answer is no! Check his record! Run his receipts! You will see that His record says nothing short of Victory! He was a winner before time started, we just saw the manifestation of that victory on the cross through precious son His son Jesus Christ. Jesus was the investment that God made for your prosperity. His work is finished and yours has just started. You my brother and sister are eternally prosperous because the eternal One has a plan for your prosperity.
